Not your average Farmer

By Paul Honda on August 25, 2009

By Paul Honda The view isn’t common to visitors. From hilly Hoolehua, not far from Molokai High School, a view of the south shore is pristine. It’s the shoreline that includes a precious reef that has sustained residents for millennia, providing some of the sweetest seafood anywhere. But Adolpho wasn’t looking at her […]

No. 3 Kahuku 24, No. 3 Punahou 14, final Though the Red Raiders continue to unveil new looks — pistol and spread formations with four receivers — the philosophy hasn’t strayed far from its roots. Kahuku ran the ball on 20 of 29 first-half plays from scrimmage, with Galeai Malufau carrying 12 times for 22 yards. Punahou’s defense was stingy on the ground, but Kahuku quarterback Evan Moe found the passing lanes to his liking. Kahuku scored on its first […]

Saturday football preview

By Hawaii Prep World on August 22, 2009

A lighter schedule tonight in prep football, but no less intriguing. Here’s a look at the matchups. No. 2 Kahuku vs. No. 3 Punahou, Aloha Stadium The Red Raiders were relatively unchallenged in last week’s 49-14 win over Kealakehe. With “only” 64 players, coach Reggie Torres may not be as free to test his personnel as he likes to do in nonconference games. The starters might just play extended minutes, which would be a godsend for Red Raider fans who […]
