Videos: Baldwin’s Tom; Crusaders’ Mendoza

Baldwin’s Kainoa Tom set a Punahou Relays record in the pole vault by clearing 15 feet, 4 inches. The defending state champion credited coach Linden Wada, a 2001 and 2002 state champion, for his team’s performance. Sean Fukuhara placed second (14-0) and Jonathan You tied for fourth (13-6).

It was the second consecutive week the Bears sent competitors to Oahu. Baldwin’s sprinters and jumpers competed at April 17’s Honolulu Marathon Invitational at Mililani.

Saint Louis assistant coach Jordan Mendoza won the 100-meter dash to claim the title of Hawaii’s Fastest Human, one of the unique events at the Punahou Relays.
