Girls soccer: OIA powers still have it

It was the usual suspects on the first day of OIA girls soccer on Friday night.

League champion Pearl City shut out Waianae, while the rest of last year’s top contenders won.

Campbell shut out Waipahu 5-0 behind goals from five different girls and Mililani scored six — Two by Tia Furuta — in a 6-0 shutout of Leilehua. Aiea, which reached the state final last year, flexed its muscles the most with a 10-0 win over Radford. Kapolei scraped by Nanakuli 2-1.

The OIA West doesn’t play again until Dec. 11. The big hitters don’t play until Dec. 23 when Aiea and Campbell tangle.

Kayla Watanabe scored the lone goal in the ILH’s first match as Mid-Pacific beat Pac-Five 1-0.
