Bre’yanna Sanders scored 18 points and the Lions beat the Golden Eagles in overtime for the Iolani Classic title.

Long Beach Poly 58, Iolani 45

Ayanna Clark scored 14 points and Danae Miller added 12 as the Jackrabbits smothered the Raiders.
‘Iolani outscored Poly 18-8 in the final quarter to make the final margin closer than it needed to be. Poly led Iolani 19-6 after the first quarter.
Camy Aquinaldo led Iolani with 14 points and Kawai Kahalehoe led all shooters with three 3-pointers.

Maryknoll 48, Salesian 47
Rhianne Omori and Chayse Milne each scored 10 points and the Spartans won a close one over the Pride.
Seven other Spartans scored in the balanced effort, which included five different players hitting from long range.
Sierra Smith led Salesian with 13 points and Angel Jackson added 12.

Konawaena 47, Leilehua 25
Caiyle Kuapu scored 14 points and Mikayla Tablit and Tayvia Cabatbat each scored 12 as the Wildcats salvaged a difficult tournament with a win over the Mules.
Cherilyn Molina did not play and her sister Celena contributed four points.
Abigail Flores led the Mules with nine points.

    This writer uses the term “smother” to describe Poly’s win over Iolani but looking at the box scores of the Iolani-Poly game, I don’t see where Poly “smothered” Iolani…..this writer is just getting out of journalism school hired by the SA for their online posts…another example of poor quality journalism………..
