Sumstine looks to train more FB officials

Matt Sumstine, the Hawaii High School Athletic Association’s football officials coordinator, is recruiting officials for next season and beyond.

“I am constantly looking for new talent to replace some of our retiring officials and allow for healthy competition in the selection process to work in the state championship tournament,” Sumstine texted Hawaii Prep World on Tuesday.

Interested men or women can sign up to train as an official or get more information by going to www.refereeclinic.com/hhsaa.

“I am in the process of developing a training program that will shape officials as they develop from youth leagues through the HHSAA tournament,” he wrote in the text. “Along the way, we will develop officials that will be hired in the NCAA and hopefully the NFL.”

Sumstine, who is involved in making Internet training videos that have a worldwide audience, can also be reached by calling 927-8665 or emailing Sumstine@aol.com.
