Report: Kaumatule commits to Oregon

ILH Football, Punahou vs. Kamehameha

The Oregonian has reported that Punahou defensive end Canton Kaumatule has orally committed to the Ducks.

Kaumatule reportedly committed to UO on Friday while visiting the campus. Photos on the site show Kaumatule enjoying Oregon’s 45-16 win over Stanford. His older brother, Luke Kaumatule, is a junior defensive end for Stanford. One photo shows him holding up a signed financial aid agreement next to Ducks head coach Mark Helfrich after the game.

Former Baldwin star and current major league baseball player Shane Victorino was also there with Kaumatule.

The 6-foot-7, 290-pound senior has been sidelined by injuries throughout his prep career, but is having a relatively healthy year for the No. 1-ranked Buffanblu.

Punahou has a bye in the first round of the state championships, which begin this week.

News of Kaumatule’s commitment has also surfaced on Twitter via Oregon Duck FB News, as well as a fan site called addictedtoquack.com.
