Chris Kemoeatu is one of Kahuku’s many All-State first teamers from over the years. Only Saint Louis has more.

Kahuku has had more mentions on the All-State first team than any other OIA school, but one name stands above all others this year.

New coach Lee Leslie and his Raiders have dedicated the season to Chris and Maake Kemoeatu after the former needed a new kidney and his big brother was there for him. Both have Super Bowl rings, and Leslie hopes to have both of them on his staff next year.

Chris Kemoeatu was first team All-State for Kahuku in 2000, following brother Benji who repeated in 2006 and 7. Chris Kemoeatu was the Star-Bulletin’s lineman of the year and the Advertiser’s defensive player of the year.

Nice info thanks for the updates. However my eyes are sore from trying to categorize all the names, is it possible to filter the list by years instead of last names? I like see what year had the most all stars and if that contributed to the success of the teams of those years. lol, thx.

Haha, nice, bleedred. I tried to email it to you but it bounced back.

Koolau August 4, 2014 at 4:51 am

When Benji Kamoeatu was playing, commentators said he had more potential than Maake or Chris. What happened to his career?

bleedred August 4, 2014 at 5:03 pm

Jerry- I use fake emails and anonymous names, its the internet! lol, jk, all good!

Koolau- from my observations during Benji’s senior year he had injuries and was never at full potential. After high school I have no idea, heard he went to west virginia and never heard of him since, maybe he should have gone to Utah where his brothers played and in an environment more inviting for an islander.

kahuku boy August 4, 2014 at 7:51 pm

Benji recently took an offer to play arena ball. Not even in conditions l and sn unexpected call hes out there practicing his butt off. His name will be rising real soon. Hopefully hes 100% and you’ll see a whole new animal.
