Waipahu drives all the way to the 19 and is stopped on four downs.

The very next play, Kailua’s Noah Auld hits Koolau Gaspar wide-open down the right sideline for a 74-yard touchdown. Extra point kick goes wide. Surfriders lead 13-0. 6:38 left in first quarter.

After a Marauders punt, Kailua scores again to make it 19-0. Auld finds Gaspar again on the right side for a 34-yard TD. Conversion run fails.

First quarter ends; Waipahu has punted three times on four possessions.

Big break for Marauders: Tuinanau Misivila recovers an Auld fumble, but they lose the ball on downs at the Kailua 29.


The Surfriders immediately drive in for another score, and it’s now 27-0 with 7:53 left in the half. Auld makes a 22-yard TD toss to Isaiah Damo-Agcaoili. Martin Tigilau connects with Keiki Kanahele-Santos for the 2-pointer.

Kalama Keeno sets up Kailua’s next touchdown with a fumble recovery after a bad Waipahu pitch out. This time, Gabriel LeLesch scored on a 10-yard run for a 34-0 lead with 6:58 to go in the half
The rout continues. Kawehe Kohatsu chases Marauders quarterback Blaise De Asisin the end zone, forcing him into an intentional grounding. Safety. 2 points. Kailua 36, Waipahu 0.

A 34-yard kickoff return by Daniel Thomas sets up Auld’s 3-yard TD pass to Kohatsu. Kailua 43, Waipahu 0. 4:49 to go in the half.

Waipahu gets on board: De Asis 49 TD pass to Andrew Simanu. Kailua 43, Waipahu 6.

LeLesch comes right back for the Surfriders, scoring from 44 yards out on a right sweep. Kailua 50, Waipahu 6. Still more than two minutes left in the half.

Waipahu is stopped on four downs and Kailua is at the Marauders’ 19 with six seconds left in the half.

Jonovan Lee‘s 37-yard field goal attempt is short.

HALFTIME

Running clock. Kailua’s second-string offense gets a first down and punts.


Fourth quarter, 10:13 left, Kailua strikes again. Backup quarterback Paul Serikawa Jr. throws a 38-yard TD pass to Jonovan Lee. Kailua 57, Waipahu 6.

It’s the most points scored by the Surfriders since 57 points are the most since 56 against McKinley in 1990.
