The four-time reigning ILH Division I champions host Hilo in a non league game at Alexander Field. The Vikings are playing their first game without coach Dave Baldwin, who was put on leave earlier this week.

Hilo will receive the opening kickoff.

Hilo is three-and-out on its first drive. Punahou takes it over and passes it on all six plays as QB Ephraim Tuliloa goes 5-for-6 for 75 yards, hitting Eamon Brady for a 15-yard TD. Ethan Takeyama with the big 40-yard reception on the drive.


Hilo starting junior Ka’ale Tiogangco at QB. He completes two short passes but it’s another three-and-out.

Punahou answered going five plays in 50 yards as RB Wayna Taulapapa is in from 13 yards out. Taulapapa carried three times for 26 yards on drive.

Third straight three-and-out as Tiogangco takes an 8-ayrd loss on a play.

Punahou’s first play is a 62-yard TD pass from Tuliloa to Kyle Yoshino down the seam. Wide open. 21-0 with 5:01 remaining in Q1.

Hilo picks up 10 yards on its next drive but still goes three-and-out thanks to a false start penalty. Tiogangco is an efficient 6-for-7 passing but for only 20 yards.

Punahou has its first drive of the game stall because of a holding penalty and two incomplete passes. Jet Toner tries a 55-yard field goal and it has the distance but hits the right upright. Might have been good from 60.

Vikings take over and lose 19 yards on a bad snap. Tiogangco hits Tolentino-Perry for 10 yards but it’s another Hilo punt. Fifth one in the first quarter.

First quarter ends with Punahou driving. Judd Cockett already with six catches for 48 yards. Tuliloa 9-12, 165 yards, 2 TD.

Punahou churns out the yardage on the ground and Tuliloa bowls over a defender on a 9-yard TD run to make it 28-0 with 11:16 left in the first half.

A personal foul allows Hilo to start at the 35. Hilo has fourth-and-2 and Tiogangcot tries to scramble but is tackled for a loss of 3 yards. Punahou takes over on the Hilo 40.

Buffanblu have a fouth-and-1 after Taulapapa is stopped for no gain and Tuliloa hits Cockett for 8 yards. Tuliloa to Ethan Takeyama for a 17-yard TD. Third TD pass from Tuliloa, who also has a TD run. 35-0.


Toner’s first kickoff that doesn’t reach the end zone and Huddleston with a nice 26-yard return to the 35. Hilo has to punt. Still no first downs.

The Buffanblu keep their starters in and Tuliloa goes to work, completing three more passes, including a 14-yard TD strike to Takeyama to make it 42-0. Tuliloa 15-20, 251 yards, 5 TD (1 rush).

Tiogangco picks up Hilo’s first first down scrambling for 12 yards on third-and-6. A bad snap as Tiogangco wasn’t looking and Punahou takes over on the Hilo 16. Taulapapa with an 8-yard TD run after an 8-yard pass from Tuliloa to Cockett. 49-0, 1:51, Q2.

Hilo pulls off a fake punt and gets the first down on a 20-yard run by Pono Landford. It’s halftime.

Hilo is in Punahou territory for the first time as Kahale Huddleston rips off a 44-yard run. A face-mask penalty moves the ball to the Buffanblu 14 but the Vikings are whistled for a hold. Hilo turns it over on downs.

Punahou driving down the field as Kapule continues to take to the air. Punahou has fourth-and-goal at the 4 to start the fourth quarter and Toner will line up to kick.

Toner hits a 21-yard field goal to make it 59-0.

Pono Landford forces a fumble and recovers for Hilo. Vikings ball on the Punahou 31.
