Former Kahuku all-state defensive back Alohi Gilman isn’t the only human excited about his transfer from the US Naval Academy to Notre Dame.

Before Gilman could tweet the news at roughly 11:31 am Hawaii time today, Notre Dame Football posted the news 15 minutes earlier. Someone is clearly stoked.

Gilman started all 12 games as a freshman at Navy, garnering all-conference accolades. His visit to the campus of the Fighting Irish made it practically a done deal that he would become the latest island player to suit up for ND. Manti Te‘o and Robby Toma of Punahou played at Notre Dame as did Kahuku alumnus Kona Schwenke.

Recent Kapolei graduate Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa, a defensive end, will arrive on campus later this month.
