Monday night football hits the 808 state for the second time in as many years. Last year, it was lightning that forced two games to be postponed to a Monday. This year, the threat of Hurricane Lester has given us three Monday night games on the slate.

No. 7 Farrington (2-1, 2-1 OIA Red) is coming off a close loss to Mililani while Leilehua (1-3, 1-2) picked up its first win of the season against Nanakuli last week.

History: Leilehua leads the series 10-8-1 in the Prep Bowl and state championship eras. The teams have alternated wins and losses in the last seven games with Farrington winning 52-26 in the most recent meeting in 2012.

Live updates of the approximate 7 p.m. kickoff at Aloha Stadium will follow below:

No. 7 Farrington 19, Leilehua 7

FOURTH QUARTER

FINAL.

Andres still at QB. Antolin with two catches to get it inside the 40. Andres finds Kawai Phifer to the 16. Now Farrington is offsides. Mules getting down the field quickly. Andres bobbles the snap and loses 10 yards on a first-and-5. Pass interference will move the ball back to the 11. Iosefo Ah Ching with the interception on a tipped pass. Govs with their fifth INT of the game on defense and that should do it.

Tautolo now churning up yardage on the ground. Govs are over 300 yards rushing in the game and chewing up clock. LB DeShayne Stevens with a TFL on third down. Govs keep it on the ground and Freedom Alualu is stopped short. Mules take over with 3:40 remaining.

Leilehua takes advantage of a personal foul on Tautolo to move into Farrington territory. Third-and-10 on the 29 and the Mules move early. Andres goes deep and it’s picked off by Isaiah Taumua.

Faamtau with two carries for 34 yards but is banged up after a hit and stays down on the field. Unofficially 27 carries for 180 yards for Faamatau. Faamatau back in the game for second-and-goal at the 5. He’s stuffed after a 1-yard gain and comes out. TJ Tautolo 4-yard TD run. 9:26. 19-7.

THIRD QUARTER

Kona Andres in at QB for the Mules. Deep ball is intercepted and Farrington takes over.

Govs going back to that jumbo package and rushing it right up the gut on Leilehua. Challen Faamatau 1-yard TD run to give the Govs the lead with 3:04 left in third quarter.

TJ Tautolo getting some good runs in on a nice drive by the Govs that gets to the Mules’ 10, but a holding call brings it way back. Victor with a tackle for loss on fourth down and it’s a turnover on downs.

Mules cross over midfield but then an intentional ground call and other mistakes result in a third-and-41. Leilehua quick kicks on third down.

SECOND QUARTER

Kingston Moses-Sanchez with a 9-yard catch but clock is still moving. Third-and-1 with 28 seconds left. Uahinui keeps it and gets the first down. Timeout with 23 seconds left. Ball on the 16. Moses-Sanchez has a ball go off his fingertips in the end zone. Braxton Victor sacks Uahinui for a huge loss with four seconds left. Last chance for Farrington but Uahinui takes off and runs only to slide at the 20. HALFTIME.

Huge play by Farrington as Ryota Kony intercepts a pass that I think Piceno was trying to throw away. Ball inside the Mules 20 with a minute left. Personal foul after the play backs up the Govs 15 yards but a huge turnover late in the half.

Faamatau with a 47-yard return to midfield. Uahinui remains in the game. They line up Faamatau in the slot on back-to-back plays and quick throws net two quick first downs inside the 30. Faamatau open in the end zone but another overthrow from Uahinui. Another pass to Faamatau is caught at the 14. Freedom Alualu 14-yard TD run. Leilehua 7, No. 7 Farrington 6, 1:23, Q2.

Mules will start from their 44. Piceno scrambles on second down and is able to get 10 yards. First down Leilehua in Farrington territory. Piceno finds Jay Jay Antolin for 20 yards. He fumbles but manages to get on it with a defender all over him. Piceno runs to the 18 but fumbles and Leilehua AGAIN recovers. Mules call timeout facing third-and-4 from the 18. Piceno keeps it for a yard but that’s it. Fourth-and-3. Mules will go for it. Nope. They call timeout. They line up to go for it again and Farrington leaves the left side uncovered. Piceno runs it all the way to the 7. Piceno carries to the 5. Keanu Hirota 5-yard TD pass from Kaleo Aloha Piceno. Leilehua 7, No. 7 Farrington 0, 3:52, Q2.

Third-and-1 and Uahinui bobbles the snap from center. Another three-and-out.

LB Faasisina Masalosalo blows up a Leilehia run on first play for tackle for loss. DB Christian Jay Acorda breaks up a pass on third down. A flag is thrown but they pick it up. Mules with another three-and-out. Punt downed at the Govs’ 9-yard line.

Uahinui remains in the game at QB for Farrington. He has taken all of the snaps so far. Uahinui can’t handle the snap on third down and Govs have to punt.

FIRST QUARTER

Holding penalty hurts the start of Leilehua’s next drive. Piceno tries a deep ball of his own and it’s intercepted. END 1.

More Faamatau as he picks up 10 on the first down. Govs now inside the 40. Faamatau gets the carry on third-and-4 and picks up a first down right at the Leilehua 30. DL Kalaika Sinclair pulls Faamatau down with one hand for a tackle for loss. Uahinui throws for the end zone but multiple defenders there and Destry Pulawa Lopez intercepts the pass in the end zone for Leilehua. He returns it to the 23.

Touchback. Mules start at the 20 Three-and-out.

Farrington running its offense now with Faamatau at QB in a jumbo package similar to what we’ve seen from Kahuku the past two years and Kamehameha last week against Punahou. A bad snap on the 20 loses 15 yards and then Uahinui overthrows an open receiver deep.

Farrington blows up the screen pass on third-and-4 and Mules with another three-and-out.

Justin Uahinui at QB for the Govs. Heavy dose of the running game early on as Faamatau picks up a total of 30 yards on his first six carries of the game. Uahinui overthrows two receivers in a row and Farrington will punt.

Kaleo Aloha Piceno starts his second consecutive game at QB for the Mules. DL Tyrese Futialo is hurt on Leilehua’s second offensive play of the game and he remains down on the field. He is eventually carried off the turf by two teammates. Piceno is called for intentional grounding on third down and Leilehua will punt after a three-and-out.

Farrington has to punt on its first drive.

If I’m a Govs a fan, I’m REALLY concerned that this was even competitive, let alone this close of a contest.

Govs have too much talent. This reflects poorly on the coaching staff.

    @TooMeke
Agreed. Govs team has too much talent for this game to be a close one. The score should have been a run away. I also think they could’ve won the Mililani game as well. Sad…it’s a reflection of the coaching staff on not getting their act together and not using their players in the right places. Time to step down!

I’ll give credit where credit is due…..
What a great game between two ol’ skoo programs!
A great defensive battle in the first half for both teams!!!!!
Okimoto and the Govs came out in the second half with a “Kahuku” style elephant run offensive game plan and just played smash mouth football.
Tokuda and the mules came out with Andres in the 4th quarter but could not pull it off.
Hats off to the mules defense on a valiant effort!!!!!!
This game was really close it could have went either way.
In this case, the Govs just let the “elephant” out of its bag.
Good luck to both teams and thanks for a great game!!!!!
