nanakuli had years of hammer kids in recent years in the keala watson era going back to troutman and company….BUT they never had the balls and confidence to compete in red…only if they knew the players from the year they had troutman till last season they would had competed in red no doubt about it….now in red division with no players..too late…the hawks better start making a strong relationship with pop warner and jr prep kids cause those kids succeed every year but end up in waianae.kapolei or some ILH school…WATSON and staff have to much PRIDE to talk to youth programs in nanakuli and keep good kids home..nanakuli kids are everywhere playing football succeeding all over oahu but not at nanakuli high school…shame shame

  3. Hawkparent September 24, 2016 9:15 pm

Way out west, your comment is I’ll-informed. I am a proud parent of 2 golden hawks. The Nanakuli has no control over which division they play in. We were not sandbagging in D2 with great players, our boys fought hard to close wins with many other D2 teams. About recruiting players, im glad our coaches don’t recruit players. My boys are true golden hawks who would defend the Valley no matter who the coach is. If you enjoy watching all star teams go be a fan of kapolei or mililani. You sound like a disgruntled crybaby who hasn’t gotten your way. My kids love the football team and program, if you don’t that’s ok, it’s not for everybody.

  4. way out west September 27, 2016 7:54 am

HawkParent, the point i was getting is nanakuli had elite teams going back to keala watson first year varsity.since that season the hawks been winning and had chances to move to red.If the coaches only knew they would have conpete WELL in the RED.nobody remembers the white champs..yah nanakuli won white but against teams luke waialua, kalaheo, kalani come on…now this year they like try go in red with only a star qb…
2)Iam tired of seeing star playing hawks from po
p warner not go to nanakuli..i not talking about recruiting i talking about kids in nanakuli playing for their hometown team..kapolei,waianae,kamehameha,saint louis have star players from the valley and choose not to play for hawks cause watson and staff dont have any relationship with pop warner..the pop warner has elite teams every year and if watson and staff went to park and talked to kids i know more kids from those youth teams would guarantee play at high school..
3)im not disgruntled…i just wanna see hawks step it up like thr rest of state is doing..u HawkParent is probly satisfied with ur white title and thats ur problem..shoot for red titles and state titles..we in nanakuli gotta step up and keep kids home..if we do watch out…

  5. True Nanakuli Fan September 29, 2016 7:23 am

Your an idiot ..kids go different schools because their parents want them too ..not because the high school coaches don’t talk to the pop warner team.. From what I know Nanakuli been doing good the last few years and the one year they not doing so good every dick harry and Jane has something to say..when was the last time u seen Nanakuli doing good before coach Watson and his staff took over.. Don’t worry I’ll wait .. they are doing a great job and don’t jump back on the wagon when they smash everyone next year.. fake fan always blaming the coaches blame the parent who yells but don’t correct their kid.. who pulls their kid out and sends them somewhere else.. hahahahahaha ride or die Nanakuli.. ” We all we need” don’t go to another school then throw up the “N” sign just makes you look stupid and fake peace

  6. Hawkward September 29, 2016 1:06 pm

“we in nanakuli gotta step up and keep kids home..if we do watch out…” *Please Capitalize “N”anakuli. Mahalo! By “we” What do you do for Nanakuli? What do you do for the kids? What have you done with “keeping kids home” ??? If you like see change then go do something then. HUUUUURRRRAAACCCHHHHAAAAA!!!! Hawks Behbeh!!!

  7. way out west September 29, 2016 3:26 pm

true nanakuli fan…..BE real next year and years to come nanakuli does NOT have any superstars coming back…And they not goung SMASH anyone next year…..BE REAL TO UR SELF….keep kids home from other schools is what keala gotta do for compete in RED…keep ur one white title in ur back pocket…You guys always talk about last year while now u with them big dogs…They coyld get away in white but not in RED..Be a man watson and staff you have 2 undefeated pop warner teams with future stars that COULD be a golden hawk one day..build a relationship before them other schools come knocking…….

  8. True Nanakuli Fan September 29, 2016 9:29 pm

Hahahahaha your the one bringing up the past… I’m correcting your statement and saying this year was the only rough year and now everyone against the coaches and Nanakuli.. Super stars.. what is that keep your fantasy dreams to yourself.. Nanakuli has hardworking, discipline Home rooted kids.. don’t remember when kids make decisions of what high school they want to go to..and coaches had to go to pop warner and motivate the kids to stay home Hahahaha that’s college stuff my man.. PARENTS make the decisions for their kids when their young.. They want better education then they send their kids to private school, they want a winning team send them to bishop Gorman Hahahaha or Mililani or Kapolei cause get June Jones .. what a world we live in now days.. when I was playing you stay and represent your home town no matter what but the parents now days are different so sad.. and for your pop warner undefeated teams.. at that age anyway can be undefeated half the kids don’t even know how to play..when they get older and developed that’s when u talk my man.. and for all those ” Superstars ” that were from Nanakuli and played else where can u tell me where are they now Hahahaha probably flipping burgers or working at the movies because their parents lesson was to not work hard to win but go where they are winning and blend in hahahahahaha Peace

  9. Hawkparent September 29, 2016 9:49 pm

Way out west. I pray u are not a pop warner coach trying to lift yourself up now that our boys are struggling. If you are, maybe that’s the reason the kids leave, they think all Nanakuli coaches are as dumb as you. Can’t you understand? We…..don’t…..choose……our…….division………. you keep saying we stayed down when we had D1 talent blah blah blah. In order to move up D1, we had to win the D2, and that’s what the boys did! U keep mentioning all your boys, let’s play “where are they now”. I know of 10 hawks who are still in college playing football. Your poster child is not one of them. Give me a name of one of these pop warner studs that went another school and I’ll give you a name of a hawk that stayed home to defend the Valley. You trying to call out the coaches to be men? Why don’t you be a man, grow some balls, and go up and talk to them. I’m a single mom and these coaches have helped my boys become men. Be a real man and do something, no hide behind your computer and criticize my boys, their team, and our community.

  10. BIG RED est September 29, 2016 10:39 pm

@way out west..Let them nanakuli wannabes go.I see your point and I agree what u saying. Here at kahuku we strongly encourage our youth pop warner and Big Boyz to stay home and thats what we been doing for years..since kesi ahoy was in elementary, private schools was after him but we kept him home…HawkParent, true nanakuli fan dont know nothing..your home town team never win and not going win anytime soon…@way out west is right so stop your crying cause the hawks just got their butt kick in the big bad Red….RRFL

  11. True Nanakuli Fan September 30, 2016 6:28 am

@BIGREDest hahahahahha how can we be Nanakuli wannabes when we represent Nanakuli and stick with our boys and support them… a wannabe is those players and parents who leave and go somewhere else cause they wannabe a super star like @wayoutwest says .. you talk about Kesi Ah hoy like the high school coaches was talking to him since he was in pop warner hahahah tata was only coaching the last two or three years.. you guys had how many diffferent coaches for the high school since kesi was in pop warner lol kids stay cause their parents bleed red and white and will battle no matter who the coach because the love for their community thats what keeps those kids home and championships coming their way.. i have a lot of friends who coach or have kids playing there and that’s their main reason cause they want to represent where they are from.. no go all over the place and represent someone else who just uses their talent but don’t develop them as men of their community.. example Andrew Manley ” Super Star Qb ” for Leilehua played there went college and now represents Kapolei as a coach lol wow how’s that here’s another one u say u keep your boys home but like I said for education parents move their kids ” Manti Teo ” Kahuku pop warner went to Punaho.. won how many games and literally took out Kahuku and who was Punaho’s Qb the last 4 years right Ephraim who is from where ” Kahuku ” good job keeping them home but like I said parents choose where they go.. and before I leave Keala Watson played for Nanakuli went to U.H played 4 years started became a captain and they are the highest Rank Hawaii team which was number 4 in the nation his senior year and played in the sugar bowl undefeated.. ” even tho they lost they represented Hawaii strong and then finished his career and went and Coached for his hometown who was struggling at that time and now making a difference in football and community.. don’t forget about Fred salanoa or was a star at radford and coached for them but left and went punaho cause he know his team was going to suck hahahahahaha Nanakuli Strong stick with them thru the storm.. if u want to leave and go somewhere else don’t blame the coaches blame yourself then u can find peace hahahahahaha have a great day peace

  12. Hawkparent September 30, 2016 10:46 am

LOL! Instead of manning up, u panty even more out by making a 2nd account posing as one Kahuku fan? OMFG! FYI, I can see your email, and ip address! What a clown! What are you trying to get out of this? People have no respect for you in the real world so now u wanna bring everyone else down? Are you jealous that someone can do what you can’t do? Your kid not getting playing time? Did the coach cut you off in traffic? What is your problem? Since u keep mentioning pop warner, I know u one of them guys down there. Grow up, u spend too much time with little kids u acting like one. You get big power trip bossing around kids all day instead of developing them. If pop warner is so badass and u so good and devoted, you make them stay Nanakuli. No u nothing, nobody respects you, so u begging the high school coaches to go down and do your job that u no more the balls to do! Wake up u clown!

  13. Da Coach October 2, 2016 9:12 am

Way out West, grow some you know what and talk to Coach Keala. Wait, that’s right, you have none. Pop Warner is pop warner, I have seen many pop warner, big boy players “stars” etc…move up and fizzle. You also forget, Hawaiian homes are building in Kapolei and kids move with their families. I just seen a Nanakuli boy playing for Kapolei this past week cause they want to go where the talent is, but that kid himself was second string and still lives in Nanakuli. For a school with roughly 680 something students, they are doing alright. Who else in the west gave Cal Lee’s St. Louis teams of the 80’s a hard time in the prep bowl? Enough said, the coaches only can coach the kids that is given. The coaches are not donkeys, many have college degrees, played college ball, and have the psassion for the game. Talking pop warner and High school is talking stupid.

  14. aaron kaapuni October 2, 2016 9:30 am

Okay, I just read these comments and this talk is crazy. I am one of the coaches for this years team and I coached for many years at Pop Warner, Big Boys and High School level. I also coach high school and college bound players for the Brian Derby Offensive Linemen Camp. Donkeys we are not, we have coaches with Doctorate, Masters, and Bachelor degrees. Other than me, we have a very young coaching staff, but not an inexperience staff. Coach Watson has bridged the gap of the community with not just sports, but community service. Why? cause building leaders just doesn’t come from sports, but by character. We are not afraid to sit our best athletes if they do not heed to our rules. Do the parents like it? Of course not, but what we teach our younger players is that “one” person doesn’t make a team. We are trying our best to change our community one day at a time from years of undiscipline actions from predecessors. Refrees view all Nanakuli teams as undiscipline until they see us. Winners is not from how many games you’ve won, but how any times you refused to give up. Can I change a hater, maybe, but at least you’ll understand where “WE” come from, Aloha!

  15. officer kanahele92 October 3, 2016 9:03 pm

Mr kaapuni.the point that many of us nanakuli people are tryin to say is that we wanna WIN and nothing else. You guys choose to move to RED and we just got man handled week in week out.why does people in our community think that recruiting within our own home of nanakuli is so wrong? If we want to compete state wide we have to influence our youth to be a Hawk.Alot of nanakuli people think that we just going play with whatever we get. That sucks.we should be keeping the majority of kids home and make lots of runs for D1 and open divsion state titles and not just white and D2 titles..Why cant we just do that?people are satisfied with playing with whatever kids we get..come on now.#stop living in the past this is the new era of football#

  16. DaNanakuliGovernor October 4, 2016 10:30 am

Officer Kanahele and everybody else on this thread. If you know so much about what it takes to be such a great football team den you why don’t you go out there and coach. Everyday I coach my little league team next to the high school football team and all I see is hardwork and dedication from all the coaches. Yeah they make some mistakes but who doesn’t. So if all you guys get something to say…take a drive up Nanakuli Ave and turn left onto Nanakuli High School. The coaches are there every single day throughout the year. Off-season lifting. Study hall. Getting our boys to college. Stuff that really matter. And when you get there, let me know too cuz I’ll be there…coaching da future golden hawks. God bless Nanakuli.

  17. officer kanahele October 4, 2016 7:54 pm

da gov of nanakuli aka Mr kapaku..the point that some of us is tryin to say that keala watson and staff should do more to keep kids home.go and talk to our youth programs and talk to the kids to keep them playing for hawks in high school not only at pop warner level.you know for a fact that studs go through that program and end up else where..If the golden hawks wanna make a real run at a real title and not that weak white one keala gotta try and influence our youth too stay home…. but u get all this nanakuli people sayingwe just going play with wat we get…..thats not good enough in the big bad red….mr kapaku pls reply to my post i wanna know what u think…keala or staff never did have a relationship with ANY of our youth teams why?their the future u would think they would have formed one by now…maybe too much pride…like they said nah we gettum no need
we play with whatever.since people blame our small population why not try keep whats in our valley.people make all the excuses and turn their heads when they hear the word recruiting..thats apart of the new era of football and if we wanna compete we gotta recruit our own boys to stay home.we not in 80s ,90s we in 2016 thats what we gotta do in 2016,2017…..ALOHA GOV

  18. True Nanakuli Fan October 5, 2016 9:08 am

Officer kanahele.. A true Nanakuli fan and parent would keep their kid in Nanakuli no matter what… let me know when the last Nanakuli football team won this much games since coach Keala Watson took over..One bad year now everyone got something to say.. Recruit our own kids what u talking about…They live in Nanakuli they rooted and should stay home and play.. Watching the program grow the last years and seeing the kids contribute to the community and go college and be better men is not a good reason to go Nanakuli.. what else you like.. Going down to the pop warner ain’t going to do anything.. we don’t have a big boys league and the high school and intermediate been working together for a while so what are u talking about not working with the youth.. it’s just the pop warner.. like I said parents make the decision of where their kids go and half of them only want results now..not wait and trust in the program.. you want results then u as a parent and pop warner coach should trust and push your kids to stay Nanakuli..

  19. way out west October 5, 2016 9:43 am

there is a nanakuli big boyz team ….nanakuli valley hawks and no high school coach is helping get yr facts straight.the coaches are NOT HELPING THE ITERMEDIATE TEAM.That was the past.

  20. officer kanahele October 5, 2016 9:48 am

thats the point our kids not staying home..why?not because parents..cause program sucks thats WHY.saint louis toilolo and kamehameha sundance are 2 of many studs that hawks wish they kept plus many more……

  21. True Nanakuli Fan October 5, 2016 11:26 am

Hahahahaha two idiots..you guys need to get your facts straight.. your so called big boys league is run from Nanakuli High and intermediate school.. run by good coaches who’s trying to keep the same plays and same system as the high school team.. practice at the baseball field locker room by the highschool locker room and coaches were out with the high school coaches during the summer lmao and the program sucks name me guys who left Nanakuli and played elsewhere and going to college and where and I can name guys who went thru the program and going college as we speak.. Sundance is a great player but what is his impact at Kamehameha.. is Kamehameha even in the race for the I.L.H.. Dylan another beast player but he left cause his parents wanted him too.. not cause of the program.. his impact on defense is felt but still shadowed by Mautatia and a few more St. Louis defense players..it would be nice to have them but it is what it is.. anymore players you have that are making a big change in another school lmao let me know I’m waiting

  22. True Nanakuli Fan October 5, 2016 11:37 am

I’m wasting my time arguing with both of you… Nanakuli kids are great athletes.. if the parents want them to stay then they stay if not then so be it… Thankful for all the Nanakuli kids who represent us .. Kulia I ka nuu… get um next year boys

  23. officer kanahele92 October 5, 2016 12:00 pm

2017 prediction 0-8 nanakuli hawks…then demoted back to white so sad….aloha

  24. officer kanahele92 October 5, 2016 12:13 pm

they not running same system i watch their games..the varsity ran that stupid veer and intermediate are running their own offense.not same thing idiot

  25. True Nanakuli Fan October 5, 2016 12:37 pm

Lmao what you just watched the first game.. they ran a pistol offense..look jumping all over the place with your complaints.. stuck on one but anyways 0-8 next year okay I take that bet.. they win one then u go to the high school and help with community service with the football boys and coaches.. and if not then you the man and can come coach and win the white shoots alohay braddah

I am the real Donald and I just found out from my friends da Nanakuli coaching staff that this convo is going on. So please stop if you trying for be me cuz I get my own view on Nanakuli cuz I am a true Hawk to da death. Hawks babeh!!!

  33. officer kanahele October 6, 2016 7:30 am

so shame nanakuligov acting like a fake on here.using someone else’s name.u one chump.probly one coach tryin to hide behind someone else.u talk and talk about excuses.
True nanakuli fan you said that u bet hawks going win ONE game.are u foreal?come on if they win ONE game next year we get problems.thats the problem you guys satisfied with one win…so shame….

  34. Kili Watson October 6, 2016 9:50 am

Alright, this needs to stop! Yes, whoever is DaNanakuliGovernor, please stop! Yes, it’s a shame you’re hiding behind a screen name but it is also a shame that you are involving me, the OC, and the rest of the NHIS staff into your argument/issue. As a coach and community contributor, I am very well acquainted with disgruntled or upset people, as I have learned that you can’t satisfy everyone. BUT to involuntarily involve the NHIS coaching staff is wrong! The situation could have led to something very serious because you want to invite people on campus, where there are many young students, to handle your issues. Just stop!

Secondly, this thread is embarrassing to our Nanakuli community. We are fighting each other! Why?! If we are all proud to be from our community, then we should show it. If I am an outsider reading this, it just shows that Nanakuli has already lost because they fighting each other. Please stop this from continuing. There is no need for name calling or putdowns, at all!

Next, coaching a high school team is very difficult, let along doing 2 programs (JV and Varsity). Please take into consideration the many things a coach must accomplish with their team before game night:

football attendance, school attendance, grades, communicating with teachers about grades and academic performances, organizing and conducting study hall, organizing and conducting weight training, attitude and discipline, character building, conditioning, offense scheme, defense scheme, special team scheme, organizing community service, organizing team bonding events, camps, combines, SAT, ACT, college application, communicating with collegiate coaches, organizing off season workouts, team camps, off field relationships with players, safety of players,…

These are just some of the things EVERY high school coach must accomplish before even stepping on the field/court on game night. Now keep in mind, the NHIS is running parallel staff, meaning the same 15 coaches working with Varsity is also working with JV, so they are doubling their duties. It is rare to find a parallel staff at any high school level. Then, also keep in mind, the same 15 coaches are trying to accomplish the goals while being under-resourced, in comparison to other schools and programs. THEN, remember the same 15 coaches have their own career and family to support, too. So yes, building a relationship with the pop warner is load-baring for any high school team. Is it impossible? Of course not. But it would be very difficult. All that is really needed is support!

So in all, please stop the nonsense on this thread as it is leading to no where. There is no need for name calling or putdowns. Just support Nanakuli!

Finally, I’ll leave this thread with a story:

A Man and his son went to market with their Donkey. As they were walking a countryman passed and said: “You fools, what is a Donkey good for but riding?”

So the Man put the Boy on the Donkey. Soon they passed a group of men and one said: “See that lazy Boy, he lets his father walk while he rides.”

So the Man ordered his Boy to get off, and got on himself. Then they passed two women, one of whom said to the other: “Shame on that lazy lout to let his poor little son march along.”

The Man didn’t know what to do, so he placed his Boy up before him on the Donkey. By this time they had come to the town, and passers-by jeered and pointed at them. The Man stopped and asked what they were scoffing at. The men said: “Aren’t you ashamed of yourself for overloading that poor donkey with you and your large son?”

The Man and Boy got down and didn’t know what to do. They thought and thought, until they cut down a pole, tied the donkey’s feet to it, and raised the pole with the donkey to their shoulders. They went on in the middle of the laughter of everyone who met them until they came to Market Bridge, when the Donkey, wiggling and moving around, caused the Boy to drop his end of the pole. In the struggle the Donkey fell over the bridge into the water and drowned.

“That will teach you,” said an old man who had followed them: “Please all, and you will please none!”

  35. officer kanahele92 October 6, 2016 10:14 am

kili first of all…nobody told u guys u gotta coach both jv and varsity.there is people that you can find to coach jv..let them come in and run whatever system they want.If that is what is taking all ur time than best u guys give that up and focus on the varsity and how to improve the whole program.sounds like u making excuses on why u never form a pipeline to our youth teams. We in nanakuli like win in the red.Do whatever u gotta do to stay and compete in red BEFORE its too late and end up back in white.#theyouthishereinthevalley#

  36. Kili Watson October 6, 2016 10:24 am
