With games against Mililani and Kapolei to finish, Nanakuli is desperate for a win tonight against Leilehua to remain in the playoff chase in the OIA Red.

After a 17-yard loss on third down, Leilehua punts. The ball is touched by a Nanakui player and Leilehua’s Jacob Schmidt recovers at the 5. False start pushes the Mules back to the 8. Tom-Makue connects from 25 yards. FIELD GOAL LEILEHUA. 3:25 Q4.

Leilehua grinding out first downs on the ground with Alijah Stone and Kevin Ioane. Nichols throws deep and is intercepted by Chayce Morgan. Nanakuli goes three and out. Leilehua ball at its 43. 6:22 Q4.

Kipi hits Kaleo Banks deep down the middle for 48 yards to the Leilehua 20. After the Golden Hawks get to the 12, the teams exchange fumbles on three of the next four plays. The quarter ends with Leilehua ball at its 13.

Max Nichols in at QB for Leilehua. He completes a 15-yard pass to Evans on third-and-10 and finds Alijah Stone for a 12-yard completion. Nichols finishes off the drive with an 11-yard keeper. TOUCHDOWN LEILEHUA. 1:36 Q3

Kipi connects with Joey Vea-Quitog over the middle for 32 yards. Two plays later, Kipi is hit on the exchange and fumbles. Braxton Victor recovers for Leilehua.

Mules getting it done on the ground on this drive. McGary goes up the middle for 43 yards. Coltyn Cruse-Gombio picks up 17 to get to the Nanakuli 8. Holding penalty pushes Leilehua back to the 18. Tom-Makue connects from 34 yards out. FIELD GOAL LEILEHUA. 5:00 Q3.

Nanakuli goes three and out in 23 seconds. Leilehua takes over at its 36 after the punt. Andres looks for Evans again but his pass is intercepted by Micah Manewa. Nanakuli with another quick three and out and punts again. 8:03 Q3.

Andres starts the second half by leading a six-play, 64-yard march. After McGary’s 13-yard run on third and 5, Andres finds Evans running alone down the left side for a 27-yard score. TOUCHDOWN LEILEHUA. PAT good. 10:02 Q3.

Pi’ilani picks up 27 yards on first down. After a loss of 2, the Golden Hawks let the clock run out.

After two Leilehua tackles for losses back to the 12, Kipi lofts a throw that is intercepted by Jerome Holliday, who weaves down the left side for a 34-yard return. TOUCHDOWN LEILEHUA. PAT good. 1:00 Q2.


Leilehua drives to the Nanakuli 20 before the drive stalls. Akoni Tom-Makue drills a 32-yard FIELD GOAL. 2:03 Q2.

Charleston Mahoe comes up with a sack for a loss of 12 on first down. Vaavaai Niumata catches Andres again on third down to force a punt. Nanakuli can’t gain any yardage on its possession and punts it away after a three-and-out. Personal foul on Nanakuli gives Leilehua the ball at the Nanakuli 48. 3:03 Q2.

On third-and-14 from the 5, Andres’ pass is tipped an intercepted by Thomas Nahinu who runs it back for the 5-yard pick six. TOUCHDOWN NANAKULI. PAT good. 6:07 Q2.

Clyde Enos makes a tremendous diving catch for a 38-yard completion to the Leilehua 42. Enos catches a lateral and fires a throw downfield to Robello for 29 more. Leilehua holds to set up fourth and 7 at the Mules’  9. Kipi’s pass over the middle is incomplete. Leilehua takes over. 6:59 Q2.

Leilehua answers with a five-play drive. Andres runs for 18 and hits Jeremy Ramos on a post for a  24-yard score. TOUCHDOWN LEILEHUA. PAT good. 9:09 Q2

Po’okela Pi’ilani gives Nanakuli its first first down with a 26-yard burst up the middle to start the second quarter. After two more carries Nahum Kipi finds Sinai Robello on a 27-yard pass. TOUCHDOWN NANAKULI. PAT good. 10:36 Q2.

A sack by Spike Kahalewai pushes Leilehua into a third and 14. The Mules set up the screen to McGary again, but Nanakuli reads it and drops him for a loss of 1. Deep ball on fourth down is broken up and Nanakuli takes over at its 39.

Nanakuli again moves backward for a loss of 2 before setting up to punt for a third time. Leilehua ball at the Nanakuli 49. 1:55 Q1.

A sack by Nanakuli’s Daniel Ramos brings up third-and-23. Leilehua picks it up on a 31-yard screen pass to James McGary. McGary picks up 4 on a carry and 16 more up the middle. Andres to Jeremy Evans on a 13-yard fade. TOUCHDOWN LEILEHUA. PAT good. 2:41 Q1.

Nanakuli’s second possession nets a loss of 1 yards and the Golden Hawks punt. Leilehua takes over at its 49, 4:46 Q1.

Kona Andres goes 7-for-8 for 53 yards and caps a 13-play drive with a 4-yard pass to Chad Dilay. TOUCHDOWN LEILEHUA. PAT Good. 5:36 Q1.

Nanakuli starts with a hurry-up look. After two runs for a loss of 1 and a gain of 3 and an incomplete deep ball, the Golden Hawks punt 53 seconds into the game.


Leilehua wins the toss, defers. Nanakuli will receive the opening kickoff.

Leilehua wins the JV game 41-19. Kickoff for Leilehua’s homecoming game at Hugh Yoshida Stadium should be right around 7:30.
