GAME NIGHT 10/7: Radford/Farrington

The final OIA Division I playoff game of the weekend pits host Farrington against Radford.

Here is our game preview.

10:02: GAME OVER.

9:58: Eter scores on a 20-yard run. Umaga adds the extra point. FARRINGTON 36, RADFORD 14, 1:48 left in game.

9:57: The Govs punt on their next possession and then Radford winds up losing the ball on downs deep in their own territory.

9:47: The Govs drive into Radford territory, but Radford’s Aldrich Pascual recovers a fumble and returns it 50 yards for a touchdown. A conversion pass from Suitonu to Cameron Copeland puts two more points on the board. FARRINGTON 29, RADFORD 14. 4:53 left in the game.

9:36: Wright scrambles for a 19-yard gain to the Farrington 40, but the Rams can’t drive deeper.

9:29: Eter finds Chad Silva for a 21-yard TD pass. Eter runs in the 2-point conversion. FARRINGTON 29, RADFORD 6, 11:53 left in game.

FOURTH QUARTER

9:28: Third quarter ends.

9:27: The Govs keep the chains moving as Eter picks up 25 yards on a fourth-down keeper. The ball is at the Radford 20.

9:22: Eter’s pass to Silva covers 17 yards for a first down at the Govs’ 45.

9:19: Two penalties — a block in the back and sideline interference — brings the Govs all the way back to their 15.

9:18: The Ping-Pong ball goes back to Farrington as Ezra Williams intercepts a long Wright pass.

9:17: The Rams go three and out and punt, but get the ball back on Suitonu’s interception of a long Eter pass.

9:09: Afe-Alaivanu catches his second TD pass of the night from Eter, this time from 31 yards out. Ezra Williams kicks the extra point. FARRINGTON 21, RADFORD 6, 6:48 left in third quarter.

9:05: The Rams go three and out and punt, but the boot is blocked by Farrington’s TitanAlii Pesamino. The Govs take over on the Radford 31.

9:00: Eter throws to Faamatau for a 3-yard touchdown. Radford’s Taias Savea was all over Faamatau at the goal line, but Faamatau held on. Eter then throws a 2-point conversion pass to Umaga. FARRINGTON 14, RADFORD 6, 8:42 left in third quarter.

8:57: It’s fourth and goal from the 3.

8:54: Two 10-yard runs by Tanuvasa and an 18-yard run by Faamatau has Farrington on the move. It’s first and 10 from the Radford 10.


THIRD QUARTER

8:30: Second quarter ends. Halftime.

8:27: A 17-yard Eter to Silva pass brings the ball to the Farrington 41. 0:44 left in first half.

8:25: Radford punts and pins the Govs deep in their own territory.

8:18: An Eter pass to Reginald Faamatau covers 13 yards and gets the ball to the 50. Farrington, however, gives up the ball on downs after the next four plays.

8:13: Radford can’t move it on a fourth and goal from the 25 and turn over the ball on downs.

8:11: Two big penalties, including one for holding, push the ball all the way back to the Farrington 44.

8:08: The Rams punt, but get the ball back by recovering a muff by the Govs. Radford ball at the Farrington 8.

SECOND QUARTER

8:05: First quarter ends.

8:03: Radford’s Kyle Sudog sacks Eter for a 13-yard loss and the Govs punt it away.

7:59: Wright hooks up with Suitonu for a 22-yard touchdown pass. The extra point is blocked. RADFORD 6, FARRINGTON 6, 1:21 left in first quarter.

7:51: A pass interference penalty against Farrington pushes the ball to the Govs 27.

7:50: Radford gets in to Farrington territory on Wright’s 23-yard pass to Matai Suitonu.

7:46: On the next play, Eter finds Chris Afe-Alaivanu open on the right side for a 22-yard touchdown. Blessing Umaga’s kick is blocked. FARRINGTON 6, RADFORD 0. 3:22 left in first quarter.

7:41: The Govs get two first downs on two Stephen Eter passes to Chad Silva. They get another first down on an Eter pass to Bobby Alualu-Alo. Farrington ball on the Radford 22.

7:35: Rams can’t move and will punt for the second time.

7:34: Wright completes a 14-yard pass to Robert Garrison.

7:31: Tanuvasa is short by inches. Rams ball at their 7.

7:30: On fourth and inches from the 8, Tanuvasa takes a pitch and gets to what looks like the 7. The chains are coming in to measure.

7:26: Samsen Tanuvasa’s 5-yard run on fourth and 1 gives the Govs a first down at the Radford 17.

7:20: Radford goes three and out and punts.Tymon Paleafei returns the punt back 18 yards to give the Govs the ball at the Radford 31.


7:17: Radford is going to receive the kick and Farrington will defend the H-1, mauka goal. Randy Wright is in at QB for the Rams.
