GAME NIGHT 10/7: Pac-Five/’Iolani

5:17: Ballgame. Pac-Five tries to get on the scoreboard to finish but they can’t. ‘Iolani wins 34-0.

5:11: Jake Lee with a 5-yard rushing touchdown for ‘Iolani. After Makekau’s extra point, the ‘Iolani lead is 34-0 with 2:32 left.

5:07: Shikada with another interception, and the sophomore takes it all the way from the end zone to the Pac-Five 28 with 4:37 left.

5:04: Nathaniel Moreau recovers a ‘Iolani fumble on the 20. Wolfpack now in the red zone with 6:06 left.

5:02: Rapozo is picked off again, this time by Micah Shikada. ‘Iolani ball on its own 10 with 6:44 to go.

4:58: Kyler Mento picks off Cade Rapozo in the end zone and returns it to Pac-Five territory before fumbling it on the Wolfpack 43. Fresh set of downs for P5 with 8:10 left in the fourth.

FOURTH QUARTER

4:49: End of the third. The Wolfpack face third-and-4 at midfield to start the fourth.

4:46: A quick three-and-out for the Raiders gives the ball right back to the Wolfpack, who start again from their own 31 after the punt, 2:04 left in the third.

4:44: Pac-Five picks up a first down and then is shut down. ‘Iolani takes over on its own 30 after the punt with 3:10 left in the third.

4:37: TOUCHDOWN ‘IOLANI. Miyazawa and Mizutani connect again. Mizutani scrambles in the pocket and finds a wide-open Miyazawa for a 69-yard score. Makekau’s PAT is good. 27-0, 4:51 left in the third.

4:33: Pac-Five drives down to ‘Iolani territory but turns it over on downs at the Raiders’ 29, 5:42 left in the third.

4:28: That’s more like it for the Raiders. They drive right down the field with a fast-paced, no-huddle attack and it ends with Mizutani and Jonah Miyazawa connecting for a 21-yard score. Makekau’s PAT is good and it’s now 20-0 with 8:37 left in the third.

4:20: Raiders will start the second half from their own 9.

THIRD QUARTER


4:02: The Raiders avoid a safety and run out the clock. That’s the half here at ‘Iolani, with the home team up 13-0 on Pac-Five. The Raiders will receive to start the second half.

4:00: A very nice punt has the Raiders backed up into the shadow of their own goal line, 48 seconds left in the first half.

3:59: Uh oh. On a second down, P5’s Breyndon Nakamura hauls in a first down reception but is penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct after the play. However, the referees didn’t reset the downs. Wolfpack coach Kip Bothelo is mad, as he should be, and he looks like he’s trying to state his case to the refs. To make matters worse, the Wolfpack can’t convert on “third down” and are forced to punt.

3:51: TOUCHDOWN RAIDERS. Justin Genovia takes a shovel pass from Mizutani and refuses to go down before he hits pay dirt for a 21-yard score. Some players thought the play was dead, but Genovia was never called down. The extra point is blocked. ‘Iolani leads 13-0 with 1:39 left in the half.

3:46: Pac-Five will punts from its own 39. ‘Iolani takes over on its own 45 with 2:41 left in the half after a fair catch interference call.

3:40: Mizutani is 8-for-14 with 42 yards so far, but he’s had around three to four passes that were well-placed but dropped. Raiders go three-and-out and the Wolfpack take over from their own 15 with 5:58 left in the half.

3:37: FUMBLE. ‘Iolani falls on a bad snap and will take over from its own 37.

3:32: ‘Iolani loses some yardage before going for it on fourth down from the Pac-Five 33, and they don’t convert. 10:39 left in the second.

SECOND QUARTER

3:30: That’s it for the first quarter. Tai-John Mizutani with an 11-yard rush to convert on fourth down to end the first. The Raiders have a fresh set of downs from the P5 17 to start the second.

3:26: ‘Iolani calls a timeout facing third-and-14 on its own 41 with 1:07 left in the first.

3:24: Ulufale has otherwise punished the ‘Iolani defense so far. He already has 11 carries for 77 yards.

3:22: Bad break for P5. AJ Ulufale fumbles the ball right before he crosses the plane. Touchback and ‘Iolani ball.

3:14: TOUCHDOWN ‘IOLANI. Brock Hedani with a 72-yard pick-six for the Raiders. Mika Makekau‘s extra point is good. 7-0 ‘Iolani, 5:41 to go in the first.

3:10: ‘Iolani with an early three-and-out. Pac-Five will start on its own 32 after the punt, 8:29 left in the first quarter.

3:07: Pac-Five goes for it on fourth down from the ‘Iolani 36, but they don’t get it. Raiders take over with 9:37 left in the first.

3:03: The Wolfpack will start from their own 44 after a squib kick that didn’t go very far.


3:02 p.m.: Pac-Five will receive to start things off.
