9 of 12 state football spots secured

Nine of the 12 HHSAA football tournament spots have been secured.

The BIIF’s Division I and Division II representatives will be determined this weekend, when Hilo faces Kealakehe for the D-I title, and Konawaena and Kamehameha-Hawaii square off for the D-II crown.

Another spot will be determined Saturday, when Farrington and Campbell meet for third place in the OIA.


The state qualifiers follow. The seeding will be determined later by the HHSAA.


Division I
>> Punahou (ILH champion)
>> Mililani (OIA finalist)
>> Kahuku (OIA finalist)
>> Maui (MIL champion)
>> Hilo or Kealakehe (BIIF champion)
>> Farrington or Campbell (OIA third place)

Division II
>> ‘Iolani (ILH champion)
>> Nanakuli (OIA finalist)
>> Pearl City (OIA finalist)
>> Lahainaluna (MIL champion)
>> Konawaena or Kamehameha-Hawaii (BIIF champion)
>> Kapaa (KIF champion)
