VIDEO: Iolani wins ILH volleyball

Iolani punched its ticket to states for the first time since 2007 earlier this year.

On Saturday, it added its first ILH title since 2001 with a win over Kamehameha. It touched off a celebration rarely seen in that gym.

Congrats to IOLANI’S ONE TEAM GIRL’S FOR WINNING THE ILH DIV. 1 VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Yet, as important as this game was that was played in a packed gym, none of the local TV stations reported this game or even mentioned the score in their double evening sportscasts…what a bunch of local yokel sportscasters…

This morning i tuned into Brandy Higa on KITV to see if she would report on Iolani winning the ILH Div. 1 girls volleyball championship…..another local and provincial reporting…she reports on all the football scores on each of the neighbor islands and gives the time for the games next weekend then proceeds to report on the UH football game then on the UH basketball scrimmage and then on this UFC fight in Ireland but nothing, not even mentioning that Iolani won the ILH volleyball championship….what narrow minded reporting……and the ironic thing is I’m a Kam alumnus yet I was still hoping she would report the Iolani v. Kam ILH girl’s volleyball championship but NADA…..just pure narrow minded reporting……..copying last rites sportscast….no originality….nothing…where do they find these high school reporters anyway…..

For the ILH, If Punahou is not involved in the championship game you wont see any video or reporting. That’s life in the nei. Get used to it. Ever noticed that every time a college or professional from the islands makes a play and it involves a Punahou grad the local commentator says so. I dont ever hear that for any other player from another school in Hawaii. And you wonder why this school is hated by the other schools. Things have not changed in local sports for as long as I can remember. It would be nice to have equal coverage, however, that is not the case just accept it and move on.
