Lahainaluna’s Nanea Estrella is usually in the 122-pound weight class, but moved up to 132 for the Pa’ani Challenge.

So far so good. Estrella teched Kaiser’s Roselani Ikei 18-2 on Thursday in the semifinals and moved on to the final against Moanalua’s Gabrielle Perez, who beat Kahuku’s Viviana Barcina 2-0 in the other semifinal.

Estrella is ranked No. 7 in Hawaii’s pound-for-pound rankings and won the 117-pound weight class at the state meet last year.

“She weighed in at 126, so we moved her up,” Lahainaluna coach Todd Hayase said. “She wanted to face Ikei.”

Ikei, who threw her headgear on the ground after the loss, placed second at states at 132 pounds last year and fifth the year before at 122.
