Moanalua sweeps Kaiser in soccer

Tyler Morton and Erik Tabiolo both scored and Moanalua beat Kaiser 2-1 on Saturday at Kaiser.

Kaiser, the reigning OIA champ, suffered its first loss of the season while Moanalua took a commanding lead in the East with a 4-0 record.

Keven Anderson scored Kaiser’s lone goal. Morton scored his ninth goal of the year and Tabiolo’s tally was his seventh.


Moanalua plays Kaimuki next week while Kaiser tries to get well against Castle.

In other OIA boys games:

>> Joseph-Tiueni Purcell recorded a hat trick and Kahuku shut out McKinley 10-0.
>> Naia Graham scored five goals and Kailua beat Farrington 10-0.
>> Four different players scored as Roosevelt beat McKinley 4-0
>> Jhonah Felipe and Nicodemos Slate each scored goals as Kalaheo surprised Kalani to earn a 2-2 draw. Takahiro Kosins and Marc Teshima scored for the Falcons.


In ILH boys games:
>> Spencer Ito scored on a nice cross from Matt Alexander and the defending state champions beat Punahou 1-0.
>> Zachary Trevorrow scored two goals and Pac-Five beat Saint Louis 5-0.

Moanalua’s girls pulled off an upset of their own with a 3-2 win over Kaiser.

Jacey Iwane, Hailey Graham and Hoku Afong all scored for Na Menehune, handing last year’s East champion the loss. Tommi Hinthaus scored for the Cougars.


In other OIA girls soccer:
>> Kamaile Aluli scored six goals and Kahuku thumped Kaimuki 16-0. Malia Aluli added three goals.
>> Helena Ankien scored two goals and Kailua beat Farrington 2-0.
>> Caitlin Fatemichi scored twice and Roosevelt beat McKinley 4-0.
>> Hannah Cabral scored two goals and Keely York added another as Kalaheo beat Kalani 3-2. Tori Chinen scored two goals for the Falcons.

In ILH girls games:
>> Kristen Hori scored three goals and Sam Masca added two as Iolani beat Pac-Five 8-0.
>> Sacred Hearts earned a win when St. Francis forfeited.
