The spotlight will shine bright at Campbell on Thursday night.

Wrestlers are still working into shape, but the Sabers will host a senior night event under the spotlight with full introductions in a dual-meet format against Moanalua.

The matchup between the boys should be particularly tight, as Campbell finished second in the state last year to Iolani and Na Menehune took fifth. If they wrestle, Campbell can count on points from Trison Santos and Micah Tynanes-Perez and Moanalua is set with Logan Garcia and Antonio Ruiz.

All of the other matches can be expected to be settled on the mat.

Campbell’s girls slipped way down to 11th at state last year but Na Menehune took second.

If the teams don’t get enough satisfaction on the big stage, they go at it again in a round robin tournament on Saturday at Castle.

Awesome night of wrestling at Campbell High school. Clash at Campbell under the lights was a good idea and a good event. On the girls side Moanalua dominated Campbell. I believe winning almost every match, I may have missed some. On the boys side it was a hotly contested matchup. With both teams winning about an evenly amount of matches. But, the big matchup of the night was State Champ vs. State Champ. Campbell’s Trison Santos vs.Moanalua’s Logan Garcia. Right of the bat first round was just pure fireworks. End of the first round Garcia had a slight lead. From the second round on Garcia took control and won the match. Garcia the defending 106lb State Champ looks to have grown much bigger than last year. His match was held at either 120lbs or 126lbs.

Moanalua Girls vs. Campbell Girls = 51-0 It wasn’t that Moanalua has a great bunch of talented girls, it’s more like the Campbell girls are just awful.

That 152 match where the Campbell dude was DQ’d, The Moanalua wrestler was squeezing the Campbell kids “Tea Bags”. I would have hit him too. Referee really missed that one.

Obviously you never wrestled mark b. In wrestling things get grabbed and I know it wasn’t intentional. Besides if someone hit me behind my head I would have stood up and lit them up for sure. Following tournament that same 152 supposedly Campbell kid weighed in 10lbs. Heavier. So lesson learn next time any school such as Campbell say no weigh ins something must be up. Maybe it’s why Iolani didn’t wanna play ? They probably new it wasn’t a legit match up up.
