Schiller, Griffith are state Heisman winners

Leilehua football player Devin Griffith and Mililani cross country runner Brandee Schiller are Hawaii’s state winners for Wendy’s High School Heisman.

Griffith and Schiller are in the running to be named one of 10 national finalists (five males and five femailes). National winners will be chosen Dec. 11.

According to Wendy’s High School Heisman officials, the award recognizes outstanding students across the country for their “athletic prowess, academic achievement and leadership within their community.”

Schiller also swims competitively, competes in triathlons and is a cadet captain in the Mililani JROTC.

Griffith, who is 6 feet 1 and 215 pounds, just finished his senior year as an outside linebacker for the Mules. He was named an honorable mention on the Oahu Interscholastic Association All-Stars, which were released by the league on Thursday.
