By Jason Kaneshiro on October 20, 2018

Turnovers fueled Leilehua’s second-half surge against Waipahu in their regular-season meeting. When the teams met again — with far higher stakes — on Friday, Waipahu did the taking. The win sent Waipahu, the division’s third seed, to next week’s championship game against the winner of Saturday’s semifinal […]

VIDEO: Moanalua improves to 4-0 with win over Leilehua

By Paul Honda on September 16, 2018

The OIA Division I showdown between Moanalua and No. 9-ranked Leilehua, two football teams unbeaten in league play, promised to be an offensive explosion. Instead, this turned into a battle in the trenches, the lowest-scoring game for the visiting Na Menehune and the host Mules. Led by defensive lineman Tupu Alualu, Moanalua limited one of the state’s top running backs, James McGary, to 12 yards on eight carries. Moanalua prevailed 23-10 to seize sole possession of first place.
