Kapolei’s season comes down to coin flip

By Brian McInnis on October 20, 2018

After a 33-13 loss at Kahuku on Friday night, the Kapolei Hurricanes’ season stands upon the edge of a coin. The Hurricanes (3-7 overall, 1-4 OIA Open Division) fell into a three-way tie with Farrington and Waianae for the last of four spots for the OIA Open Division playoffs. A coin flip, or flips, will determine which of those three teams faces OIA top seed Mililani. Coach Darren Hernandez gathered his players upon the Carleton E. Weimer field right after […]

Mililani (7-2, 5-0) will be sitting pretty with a bye for the next two weeks before they play a league semifinal game on the weekend of Oct. 26-27. For Kapolei, it’s desperation time. The Hurricanes (3-5 overall) are sitting at 1-2 in […]

By Jerry Campany on September 20, 2018

For the first time in his 23 years at Campbell and Kapolei, the Hurricanes head coach will be on the opposite sideline of a Cal Lee-coached Saint Louis squad. The Hurricanes will take their best shot at the No. 1-ranked Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. at their home field. […]
