‘Iolani’s Hogland earns Gatorade honor

‘Iolani junior Hugh Hogland, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser all-state player of the year, was named the Gatorade Hawaii Boys Basketball Player of the Year on Thursday.

Hogland averaged 15.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.0 blocks per game to lead the Raiders to a 22-9 record and the ILH and state championships.

He is now the seventh different ‘Iolani player to win the award, joining Ikaika Phillip (2013-14), Kyle Pape (04-05), Derrick Low (01-02, 02-03, 03-04), Cord Anderson (1998-99), Derek Christensen (96-97) and Richard Carlisle (94-95).


Hogland is now a finalist for the Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award given out in March.
