Sacred Hearts forces tie in ILH girls bowling

Kauaollkokalani Arelliano finished with a 594 series as Sacred Hearts beat Hawaii Baptist 2-1 in head-to-head competition as the ILH’s girls bowling teams concluded regular-season competition on Friday.

Arelliano, a junior, came up big in the regular-season final, averaging a 198 over the three games despite carrying an average of 155.58. She rolled games of 209, 179 and 206 on Thursday. Kahaulani Ho also reached her high series of the year for Sacred Hearts with a 594, including a season-best 195 game to start things off.

Amanda Lac rolled a high game of 222 and high series of 618 for HBA. That series was tops in the ILH this year, and only the second series over 600 for an ILH girl. Caitlin Cunningham of Sacred Hearts had a 601 earlier this season.

Sacred Hearts’ victory over Hawaii Baptist forced a tie in the final standings, with each team having three losses.

The two teams will have a best-of-three rolloff on Oct. 24 at Hickam Lanes to determine a league champion. The league will have its Jared Kaufmann Memorial Tournament the three days prior to the showdown to determine its top medalist and the 10 individuals who go to states.

Lac goes into that tournament with the top average in the circuit with a 178.58 in 33 games while Cunningham is on her heels in second with a 176.70 in 33 games. Hailey Ganiron of Sacred Hearts is third at 171.19 and Zoe Wang of HBA is fourth with a 169.70.
