Coach/AD roundup: Iwasaki on medical leave

Bryan Almadova is the acting athletic director at Kaiser High School while Rodney Iwasaki is away on medical leave, according to school principal Justin Mew.

Almadova is a teacher at the school.

In other athletic administration news, University hired Jay Inouye as its new boys volleyball coach, according to Junior Rainbows athletic director Hoku Haliniak.


Inouye was an assistant at Roosevelt for 17 years and at ‘Iolani at the Division II level for two years, and he is a coach for the Spike and Serve Volleyball Club.

Haliniak also said Mark Forman is the new golf coach for the Junior Rainbows.


At Radford, David Lane is the interim coach for the Rams boys basketball team. He took over from William Sankey three weeks ago.


Sankey said he will continue to support Radford basketball. He is an avid outdoorsman, rock climber and golfer and he doesn’t plan on becoming a head coach again.

Lane, a teacher at the school and an assistant athletic director, is a former head coach of the Rams girls basketball team.
