Dreaming of SuperFerry savings

The news that some state senators are pushing for a legislative move to bring back the once-popular Superferry — however a long shot the idea really is — has at least one high school coach thinking out loud.

Kalaheo air riflery coach Craig Garcia penned this comment on Facebook:

heading to maui for states this year… this would go a long way for us if it was still running. we had a potential of 1 making the cut heading into spring, now we got 5 potentially making it (depending on tomorrows scores we will have a better idea). thats a big difference in cost, plus it looks like multiple days too, so from our team, we’ll have a group of 10 plus about $5K worth of equipment we nee to trust the airlines with in transit. thats a lot to consider for such a small group plus lodging and car rental too…. oh well, c’est la vie

All the arguments for and against a new SuperFerry are well documented, but the $1 million price tag on an environmental impact study is easily the largest hurdle. But it never hurts to dream of the budget savings, greater travel opportunities and lower stress levels for athletic directors, coaches and families.

Coach Garcia responded to my post on FB. He offers a bit more insight than you do.
